Program Director (San Mateo)

Full-time temporary position for 6 months, with possibility for position to become permanent.

Summary: A CalCPA program director steers the success of local and statewide initiatives from strategic planning to implementation, aligning these efforts to CalCPA’s overall strategic plan. A program director encourages the membership to participate in CalCPA activities, as well as identifies, develops and trains leaders for CalCPA. Serves as chapter liaison and supervises program associates for Sacramento, East Bay, and Silicon Valley San Jose chapters.  

Required Qualifications, Experience, Education or Certifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related work experience.
  2. Proficient in use of computer and must have a demonstrated ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat, as well as ability to work in database environment.
  3. Demonstrated organizational, communications and critical thinking skills; meeting planning experience a plus. An understanding of budget management, monitoring and projection.
  4. Must be able to travel locally outside of regular working hours. Must retain a valid CA Driver’s License, have access to vehicle and provide proof of motor vehicle insurance.
  5. Must be able to travel to CalCPA offices various times during the year for one to two-day meetings.

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 Chapters:

  • Collaborate with the officers, directors and members of assigned chapters to develop and achieve goals.
  • Supervise assigned chapter program associates.
  • Provide statewide member training at annual training sessions.
  • Implement and coordinate recruitment and retention strategies, including visiting member firms/businesses.
  • Evaluate chapter operations for compliance with CalCPA policies and guidelines.
  • Manage development and monitoring of chapter budgets.
  • Identify and develop future leaders and volunteer base; oversee chapter nominations process.
  • Serve as primary liaison between chapter members and leaders and other CalCPA governance bodies and volunteer groups; foster two-way communication on issues, policies and activities between CalCPA and chapters.
  • Special projects as assigned.

 Programs

  • Identify and create meaningful deliverables related to key member, industry or technical segments of CalCPA.
  • Collaborate with other CalCPA divisions to increase CalCPA’s visibility with key audiences and alliances by supporting outreach activities to outside organizations and educational institutions.
  • Liaison to key member segments and technical areas.
  • Regularly meet with key decision makers and members to further organizational goals and objectives, with a focus on key member segments.
  • Explore key alliances to add value to CalCPA members.
  • Actively involved in Young Emerging Professional outreach, college outreach and student recruitment efforts.

Production Specialist (San Mateo)

Strong organization skills are key to this position. The CalCPA and CalCPA Education Foundation production specialist has primary responsibility for maintaining production of all print publications and collateral. This includes coordinating graphic design and production needs, including traffic workflow for brochures, direct mail pieces, advertisements, marketing materials and catalogs. This position handles all aspects of production for California CPA magazine, Education Foundation catalogs and attends all press checks. This position also provides support for e-mail communications, course materials production and website updates.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Layout, production, prepress, print coordination and mail coordination of all CalCPA and Education Foundation publications and collateral.
  • Oversees integrity of CalCPA logo/brand.
  • Make recommendations for improvements or changes in publication projects and processes.
  • Coordinate with marketing, editorial and advertising staff to develop and manage master production schedules for printed projects.
  • Attend press checks for print projects as required.
  • Obtain bids from vendors as required and manage print production.
  • Serve as postal liaison and maintain knowledge of postal regulations, rates and shipping options.
  • Maintain working knowledge of trends and advances in desktop publishing, printing and other areas of production, to suggest process improvements and enhance efficiency.
  • Upload meeting fliers to database for online use.
  • Website updates as needed.
  • Support Online Production Specialist as needed.
  • Support Course Materials Coordinator with production issues as needed as well as assist with layout of Conference books.
  • Work with Program Associates and all staff to place orders for handouts, including quotes, quantities, distribution, etc.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Experience, Education or Certifications:

  • 2–3 years related work experience or equivalent.
  • Expert skills in Adobe InDesign and demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and HTML-editing software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency on Macintosh computers.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects on deadline.
  • Familiarity with 4-color pre-press and printing processes.
  • 1-2 years html experience.
  • Bachelor Degree is preferred.
