Dear prospective employer:
I'm a seasoned CPA, looking for a home.
I'm open to what comes my way: I've worked in corporate. I'm an excellent general ledger accountant. And I've worked in public, where for better or worse, I'm a generalist. I wouldn't call myself a true tax senior, though I've cranked out hundreds of returns of all types over the last ten years. As an excellent general ledger accountant, I've also assisted many clients, dealt with banks and third-party creditors, developed cash flow and budgeting models, and reconstructed complex sets of books from rubble. In a crisis, I know what matters, and what can wait.
I generally know what I know, and what I don't know, and I generally know when to get help. I like problem-solving, and I consider myself a problem solver. One employer called me "the wolf" (after the Quentin Tarantino character). I wouldn't go that far in describing myself, but I was flattered.
I've done pretty well in small firms, where breadth is sometimes valued over depth, though I can go deep, too. Technologically, I'm pretty savvy. And I'm a quick learn. I know Pro FX pretty well, and I know Excel pretty well. I've worked major ERPs, and I've worked QuickBooks. In the right environment, I'd make an excellent senior, or an assistant controller.
I'm looking for challenge, and a collaborative, congenial environment. I'm a do-er. I know how to work hard and I like working hard. I want to find a home, and take a stand.
I'd be happy to tell you more, or to forward you my resume. Though I would prefer to find a home, I'm open to contract work, as well.
Thank you for your consideration.
Best regards,
Your Excellent New Employee, CPA
