CalCPA Presents D. Paul Regan With Its Distinguished Service Award
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — For services to his profession, the California Society of CPAs (CalCPA) has presented D. Paul Regan, a San Francisco CPA, CFE, CFF, with its Distinguished Service Award for 2009.
The president and chairman of Hemming Morse Inc., San Francisco, Regan is a past chair of the 35,000-member state accounting association. He has more than 35 years of experience in forensic accounting and is a certified financial forensic. He has written numerous white papers on the subject.
CalCPA annually presents the Distinguished Service Award to an individual who has provided long and distinguished service or who has performed a singular act resulting in extraordinary contributions to the accounting profession, to CalCPA or to the community.
A Hillsborough resident, Regan was named that community’s Citizen of the Year in 1995. Regan served as Hillsborough’s mayor from 2002 to 2004, and he currently is a city council member. He also is a past school board member.
Regan has long been committed to bettering the CPA profession. He serves on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Council and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
A widely sought expert witness, Regan has testified for small entities, large publicly held companies and various federal and state agencies. He has appeared before various state and federal courts as well as the California Public Utilities Commission, the American Arbitration Association and The World Court.
Regan has participated in the investigation of some of the most complex litigation cases tried in the United States. These cases have involved industries as diverse as highway and power plant construction, motion pictures, high technology, software, mortgage banking, airline, the steel and automotive industries, insurance contracts and securities.
Currently Regan serves on the AICPA’s Council and its Forensic and Valuation Services Executive Committee. He is a member of CalCPA’s Council and is chair of its Government Relations Committee. He is a past president of the CalCPA Education Foundation and a past chair of CalCPA’s Litigation Sections.
