For How Long Should I Keep My Pay Stubs?

by Rob Seltzer, CPA, PFS

Keep pay stubs until you receive your annual W-2 form. Once you receive your W-2, you should check it for accuracy against the pay stubs. If everything is OK, you can shred the pay stubs for that year. If there is a problem with the W-2, you can use your pay stubs to have the necessary corrections made.
