CalCPA Awards $37,500 in Scholarships to 17 San Jose-Area Students
SAN JOSE, Calif. — The Silicon Valley San Jose Chapter of the California Society of CPAs (www.calcpa.org) has awarded $37,500 in scholarships to 17 area students. Since 1999, the chapter has awarded more than $322,000 to students pursuing degrees in accounting and related subjects.
The students and the schools they are attending are as follows:
$3,500 scholarships: Jason Lopez of Watsonville, San Jose State University; Nikko Nascimento of Santa Clara, Santa Clara University; James Chubb of Santa Cruz, University of California, Santa Cruz; Marie Beard of Seaside, California State University, Monterey Bay.
$2,500 scholarships: Yin Li of San Jose, San Jose State University; Deborah Chow of Santa Clara, Santa Clara University; Albert Putra of San Francisco, University of California, Santa Cruz; and Kim Marlow of Monterey, California State University, Monterey Bay.
All of the following students received $1,500 scholarships:
David Swander of Lafayette, Cabrillo College; Rickey Lau of Sunnyvale, De Anza College; Jennifer Smith of San Jose, Evergreen Valley College; and J. Alicia Castillo of Mountain View, Foothill College.
Maivien Pham of Gilroy, Gavilan College; Chung Truong of San Jose, Mission College; Bert Taube of Santa Clara, San Jose City College; Linda Dugan of San Jose, West Valley College; and Sarah Vivaldo of Monterey, Monterey Peninsula College.
