Retired License for CPAs a Step Closer in CaliforniaAssembly Bill 431 by Assemblymember Fiona Ma was passed by a key Senate committee this afternoon. AB 431, the California Board of Accountancy’s retired status bill, received unanimous and bipartisan support in the Senate Committee on Business Professions and Economic Development. The bill would authorize the California Board of Accountancy to establish a retired status for certified public accountants. CalCPA supports AB 431 and asserts that a retired status license provided by this bill will accurately reflect the good standing of CPAs who have chosen to retire from the profession. AB 431 now moves to the Senate Committee on Appropriations; a hearing has not yet been scheduled. Assemblymember Ma represents San Francisco in the State Assembly and is also a licensed CPA and a member of CalCPA. Read the full language and stay up to date on AB 431. Posted: 6/20/11 |
