2011 Financial Literacy Outreach Week

Make an investment in the financial education of the next generation

CalCPA members can make a difference in the lives of students throughout the state by participating in CalCPA Institute's ¢ount on our Future event. California is one of only four states with no personal finance education standards, course requirements or testing for its students, according to the Council for Economic Education. This is why it is vital for experts in the community to share the basics of personal finance with the next generation entering universities and the workplace.

CalCPA members already visit schools, libraries and community centers to impart this knowledge year-round, but in this concentrated effort, we hope our volunteers will reach more than 10,000 students in one week. During the first week in November, members will present financial literacy curriculum designed for targeted age groups in a one-hour session at a school in their area. Our members will provide knowledge and build excitement about financial literacy by sharing the real-world advantages of developing fiscal responsibility.

  • Dates: Oct. 31–Nov. 4
  • Time: 30 minutes to 1 hour of training for presentation; 1 hour for presentation
  • Location: A school near you
