Required Qualifications, Experience, Education or Certifications:

7+ years of professional accounting experience that includes increasingly responsible leadership roles
-
4 year Degree in Accounting
-
CPA license in California
-
Strong GAAP and Nonprofit knowledge
-
Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
-
Ability to prioritize assignments, multi-task and work under pressure
-
Ability to work accurately, efficiently and completed assigned tasks thoroughly

Excellent communication skills, oral and written

Software includes Solomon, Excel, Word
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
-
Manage day-to-day operations of the Accounting department for both Society and Foundation
-
Ensure all accounting records are in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Evaluate, develop and recommend accounting policies, procedures and related processes.
-
Manage, train, and develop Accounting Staff
-
Treasury management
-
Prepare financial statements and other financial reports as needed for Board packets for Society and Foundation, including variance analyses
-
Responsible for all fiscal period (monthly, quarterly and annual) accounting close functions and related reporting.

Coordinates all aspects of the annual and interim audit.

Assists in preparing tax returns- including UBIT (unrelated business income tax) calculations
-
Maintains documentation of accounting policies, systems and procedures.
-
Advises department managers on the implementation and application of accounting policies, systems and procedures.
-
In conjunction with the CFO, establishes reporting systems and controls to ensure compliance with expenditure requirements.

Analyzes and interprets financial operating results to provide accounting support to departments.
-
Prepares various Board and management internal reporting, including analytical review.

Ensures compliance with federal, state and local legal accounting requirements and related reporting.

Assesses and recommends accounting process improvements.

Directs and coordinates activities of the Accounting department and assists the CFO in formulating and administering organization policies and objectives.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the CFO.

Other responsibilities as assigned.
Education: An undergraduate degree is required. Advanced graduate degree is preferred.
California CPA license is required.
