President’s Message

I Got Nuthin'!

By Coral Hansen, CPA

As some of you know, and more of you now know thanks to the “karaoke at every party held at my house” term, I am a singer at heart. I didn't say good singer. So, I have racked my brain to come up with an appropriate song that would help me say goodbye. It wasn’t hard.

I found goodbye songs by Hootie and the Blowfish, Natalie Imbruglia and the Pretenders. The problem is that goodbye songs are all so miserably sad! If you are feeling blue, or as my good friend Marie says, “melancholy” and you hear a song coming on the radio with “goodbye” anywhere in the title, shut it off quick! And anyway, I am not sad. We had a great year!

My goal was to add a little pizzazz to an already great organization, and I think we accomplished that. I certainly did not act alone. It was my honor and great pleasure to serve with Ryan Nielsen, Glen Imke, Joel Bock, Nick Pavletich, Sylvia Matlock, Patrick Hoffman and Martin Goni. Thank you for all of your hard work and enthusiasm. Did I miss anyone? Hmmm … oh yeah, Cindy Bush. What can I say about Cindy? Amazing, dedicated and creative are just a few things. Cindy pulled off another fabulous Student Night and was the behind-the-scenes powerhouse supporting my term as president. Thank you, Cindy, for all you do.

I'd also like to give a special thanks to past president Marie Ebersbacher. I stepped into the role of president without any experience in CalCPA. Marie was a constant source of advice, guidance and inspiration. She can also throw a party like nobody’s business!

And it isn't really goodbye. It is my pleasure to continue as Litigation Chair and as your immediate past president. We have a wonderful new president, Ryan Nielsen, and board that will absolutely knock it out of the park! So if you haven’t yet—get involved! I benefited from the relationships formed and the knowledge gained at both the CalCPA and local levels. Thank you to all.
