PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Events Are Heating Up

By Ryan Nielsen, CPA

The valley heat has officially arrived, so we are gearing up for some hot accounting events. We had a great turnout at the first Young and Emerging Professionals mixer a few weeks ago. Thanks to all of the members who participated. Keep an eye out for the July date. Our hope is that these networking events will provide an opportunity for our young professions to get together and share experiences with each other, provide us with feedback on how we can serve them as a chapter and begin to mold them into future leaders.

CalCPA is continuing the Leadership Institute this year. It’s a five-day training program designed to teach members the skills necessary to grow into future leadership positions within their firms and the profession. As a 2006-07 graduate, I strongly encourage you to apply for this year's program. The deadline is Aug. 3, so you don't have much time left. The benefits are invaluable and the majority of the cost is underwritten by CalCPA and the California CPA Education Foundation. Get more information and an application at www.calpca.org.

As always, we are looking for additional volunteers to participate in the planning of events, so if you have an interest in becoming more involved, contact me as soon as possible. I hope you all enjoy the summer!

 – Ryan Nielsen, CPA
