PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Future Looks Good
Thank you to all of our members who participated in the Annual Murder Mystery evening, and a special thanks to Coral Hanson and Marie Ebersbacher for throwing a great event. Everything from the food to the actors was top notch and made for an unforgettable evening.
Student Night was another tremendous success. Jim Cordle, Pat Paggi and Coral Hanson served on our panel and gave the students some great insight into our profession. I am honored to be a part of this group of professionals and look forward to seeing these students through to graduation.
I would like to thank the faculty at CSUB and Bakersfield College for getting the word out to all of the students and promoting our organization as an avenue to assist them in reaching their goals.
Congratulations to our scholarship recipients: Kathryn Lozano, Whitney Padgett and Joel Sandoval! Keep up the good work and feel free to come to our chapter events and contact individual members to assist you in your quest. We look forward to welcoming you into the profession!
Our sponsors and event attendees serve a critical role in providing the funds that make the scholarships possible. Thank you for your support and please continue to participate. Thank you to our sponsors Becker Review, California CPA Education Foundation, Payroll People and Thomson RIA for supporting the evening.
Take a look at our website for the latest upcoming events. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Student Thanks
Our Oct. 17 Student Night at the Sheraton Four Points was a success! Just take a look at this testimonial from one of our scholarship winners—and these photos.
Dear Kay,
It was a pleasure meeting you last night. I really enjoyed the whole ceremony from beginning to end, and my parents loved it as well. I just wanted to say thank you for your generosity and opportunity to continue my education with the CalCPA scholarship. I really enjoyed networking with all of the different professionals at the ceremony and getting an inside peak at my future career. It was really a motivation for me to strive and get to my career as soon as possible. Anyway, I plan on joining CalCPA and also re-applying next year. Hopefully we will get the opportunity to meet and greet again. Thank you so much and I appreciate your kindness.
Sincerely,
Joel Sandoval
