PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Being Thankful
Thankfully for us tax preparers and those who work and live with us, Oct. 15 is now just a memory, and we can move forward, perhaps take a break and enjoy some time with our friends and families. As I write this message for the month of November, I am reminded of all those things that bring me happiness and make me truly thankful.
This year I continue to be blessed with a healthy family and the opportunity to work in a profession that brings me personal satisfaction. I am fortunate to work in SLO and live on the beautiful Central Coast. I am also extremely thankful for the board of directors and CalCPA staff who have been generous with their time and talents to make this chapter so successful. It is also helpful to work for such a supportive firm. Overall, I am thankful for the opportunity to lead such a professional and fun chapter, and I appreciate our members who come to our events.
Speaking of events, for those who were able to attend our ABC Mixer, we hope you enjoyed the networking opportunity and were able to make some connections by putting faces to the names of other professionals in our area. As always, we welcome your feedback so we can attempt to make it even better in the future.
As I write this, I will soon be traveling to Los Angeles with one of my co-workers to attend Celebrating Women CPAs conference in Century City. I’ll fill you in on this event in the December Bulletin. I hope to see some familiar Central Coast faces there, as well.
As a reminder, Student Night 2007 is Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the San Luis County Club, and seating is limited. So if you have not registered, better do it now. We have a great panel this year, and we will introduce our recent scholarship winners.
Our last scholarship event for this year will be held Friday, Dec. 7, when we present a Tax Update Seminar with Gary McBride and Tom Daly. Not only will you enjoy a useful tax update, but you will support your local colleges by allowing us to continue to award scholarships to those deserving students, potential CPAs and, most importantly, potential employees.
Lastly, I want to thank those of you who sponsored me with the Start to Finish MS Bike Tour fund-raising event for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. My personal goals were exceeded, as were our team goals, thanks to all of you! We raised more than $10,000 as a group, and we’re still counting. Thank you for your support and generosity.
See you on the road.
—Dana Senes, CPA

Attorneys, Bankers and CPAs Mixer
Thank you to all who attended the ABC Mixer. We had a great turnout of attorneys, bankers and CPAs, and everyone enjoyed both the presidential suite at Alex G. Spanos Stadium and the media suite. The views from there are incredible, and it once again reminded us how lucky we are to live on the Central Coast! The pep band was a rousing success and we want to thank past president Debbie Wacker and her husband Bob for having them play for us. A thank you also goes out to Greg Peters, CFO of RRM Design Group, who thought of the location and made it possible for us to co-host the event with Cal Poly. We hope you met lots of new contacts and had fun socializing with people you already knew.
We have a very big thank you for our sponsors, who came forward as we were putting this inaugural event together and helped make it happen!
