2006-07 Installation: A Murder Mystery [PDF]
Join us as we welcome the chapter’s incoming leaders and thank the outgoing ones with a dinner, which promises to be fun and full of mystery. A crime will be committed and you can help figure out whodunit!

With a Chapter Activities Passport you can attend eight chapter events: the annual installation dinner; Past Presidents Night; Bankers Night; the 11th Annual Advanced Estate Planning Symposium; Tax Night; and Careers in Accounting Night; plus an 8-hour CPE seminar sponsored by the California CPA Education Foundation and another 8-hour CPE event sponsored by the Low Cost Education Committee.

Garcia Award for Outstanding Achievement was instituted to recognize an East Bay Chapter member for his or her distinguished service to the profession of public accounting, to the community or both. In Memoriam: Henry "Hank" Vanderzee
East Bay Chapter member Hank Vanderzee died recently. He was 62. He was surrounded by his wife Janet; daughter Marissa; son Matthew; and son-in-law Graham.
   Born in Detroit, Vanderzee attended Michigan State University and the Lawrence Institute of Technology. After working for accounting firms in San Francisco and Oakland, he established his own firm in Walnut Creek, Henry Vanderzee, CPA, which he operated for the past 25 years.
  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Hank to Contra Costa Hospice; 3470 Buskirk Ave.; Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.

Bilingual? CalCPA Wants You

If you’re bilingual and interested in working with the media or on volunteer opportunities, let us know.
  CalCPA is looking for bilingual CPAs, especially those fluent in Spanish, who are willing to take part in news media interviews on various topics related to the accounting profession and business in California. Additionally, CalCPA is looking for bilingual CPAs to help our volunteer efforts, such as financial literacy

New Number for Ethics Hotline

Dolores Fry, CPA, who staffs CalCPA’s Ethics Hotline, will retire from that post April 28 after 16 years of helping members with their ethics questions. Congratulations, Dolores, and thank you for all your years of valuable service.
  Beginning May 1, the Ethics Hotline can be reached through CalCPA’s Accounting & Auditing hotline at (800) 922-5272.
  Fry, a member of CalCPA’s Professional Conduct Committee from 1998–06, began answering the hotline in 1990.
