PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Plenty of Blessings
Greetings to all! It is hard to believe we are on the verge of celebrating the holiday season. Where has the year gone? With Thanksgiving just ahead, my thoughts turn to the many blessings we all have living in this wonderful country. We have our family and friends, which are further extended and made richer by our CalCPA colleagues. Thank you to all of our members who make our chapter so successful by attending events, serving on committees and the board, and participating in the leadership of the country’s largest state CPA society.
Speaking of participation, we had tremendous support for our annual golf tournament Oct. 22. It was a beautiful day at Ft. Washington (just as I had “predicted” in last month’s Bulletin), and we enjoyed a great day of golf while raising a lot of money for our scholarship fund. Many thanks to our numerous sponsors, especially Denham Resources, which gave so much time and energy to help us put on this very successful event. Can’t wait until next year to do it all again!
The chapter’s event schedule is slowing down as we reach the end of our most active part of the year. Don’t forget to mark down Jan. 24 on your calendars for Community Awareness Night. Fliers will be going out in advance, so don’t miss celebrating our 40-year members and past presidents, as well as welcoming our newest chapter members. Our guest speaker will be from the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley, so it will be an interesting and informative evening, as well as one of the best times to socialize with our colleagues before beginning busy season.
As I said last month, those who are interested in participating in the chapter’s leadership can make their interest known to our past president, Anthony Forestiere, chair of the chapter’s Nominations Committee. We welcome your desire to become more involved in our chapter.
In closing, November is also the time when we celebrate Veteran’s Day. As you pause to give thanks this holiday season, don’t forget to include our troops, at home and abroad, in your thoughts and with your wishes for their safe return home to their families. A great deal of our blessings are provided and protected by their dedicated service to our country.
Until next month, Happy Thanksgiving!
—Adrienne Cantrell, CPA
