CPA Day at the Capitol
Help legislators understand key issues facing California CPAs including the importance of CPA mobility and achieving substantial equivalency in our state. California is a part of a national effort to remove unnecessary barriers to providing services across state lines, which is unjustly costly to the clients of CPAs and may in fact interfere with consumer choice. The connections you make will prove to be crucial in educating legislators and their staff before they vote on issues important to you as a California CPA.
You will establish meaningful relationships that ultimately will create a more favorable business environment for CPAs throughout California.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Sharing Knowledge and Experience
It is my honor to serve you as your chapter president for this coming year.
If you are in public accounting, I hope you had a productive and successful busy season and you are getting some much-needed time off for recovery. If you are in industry I hope your just-completed quarterly reporting cycle went smoothly, and you are relaxing, as well.
I want to begin with giving my sincere thanks and gratitude to past president Wendy Richards and to all of our officers, directors and interest group chairs for the numerous hours of service they have given to our chapter in the last year. I am truly humbled by the commitment and level of service they provide to our chapter. I also want to thank Nancy Wilson, our chapter's program associate, and program director Gary Hammond for their hard work and counsel to keep our chapter on track.
My vision or “theme,” if you will, for this coming year is “Sharing Knowledge and Experience.” As the CalCPA's second-largest chapter, we are fortunate to have a vast group of CPAs with knowledge and experience in every area of concentration and career path. I am asking each of you to get involved to share your unique knowledge and experiences to help fellow CPAs, including our new, young professional CPAs, as well as our community. None of you should feel you are going it alone as a CalCPA member. The success of all members is a crucial element of the CalCPA mission.
Many of you already are involved in knowledge sharing within areas such as financial literacy outreach to local schools and colleges, teaching and mentoring young professionals or being involved on boards or committees of your community, charitable or other nonprofit organization. I commend and applaud you for all these efforts and encourage your to continue with this service to our community.
For those of you not engaged in sharing your knowledge and experience, I hope you take this as a challenge to find a way to be involved this coming year. If you would like to hear more about some opportunities, feel free to contact me.
I believe we all need to engage in knowledge and experience sharing to promote our profession as one made up of highly educated, knowledgeable and trusted advisers. In this sharing process, we also will contribute to the success of all CPAs, consistent with CalCPA’s vision and mission, and will contribute to the success of our communities, as well.
I understand we are all beyond busy these days. However, I do believe that we are rewarded many times over when we give and share our knowledge and experience. We all have something of value to share.
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible this year. I hope you will be able to attend some of the many chapter events this coming year.
Sincerely,
—Monica Rebella, CPA
