Student/Faculty Night

The chapter is in need of firms and individuals to sponsor accounting students for Student/Faculty Night. Let’s give today’s accounting students a glimpse into their future careers. In past years the sponsoring CPAs and CPA firms have tried to arrange to meet with the sponsored students at their office prior to the banquet. This gives the CPAs a chance to expose the students to a real work environment. It’s a great learning experience for the students. Please try and schedule a visitation day with your students—and remember, it does not have to be the day of the banquet.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Fabulous Fall

By Tara Eastwood, CPA

I would like to thank all who attended the golf tournament Aug. 27. We had a great turnout and a very good time. And special thanks to our $1,000 Eagle Sponsor ADP; $500 Par Sponsor American AgCredit; and our numerous $100 tee sponsors. I would also like to thank our wonderful Golf Committee: Nate Miller, Mark Croce, Lammert and Paula Van Laar, Steve Hoslett and Karen Howard, as well as the helpful staff at Elkhorn Golf and Country Club.
Our goal for the scholarship fund is to present $12,000 in scholarships this year. We are well on our way to meeting that goal with the success of the golf tournament. In addition, we will be putting together an eight-hour CPE event Nov. 8. The class will be “Fraud Exposures & Solutions in the Non-Audit Environment”, featuring guest speaker Tom Noce. This is a California CPA Education Foundation CPE class that will be held in Stockton and will help raise money for our scholarship fund. Register today.
The scholarships will be presented at our Annual Student/Faculty Night, Thursday Nov. 15. More information will be coming, so be on the lookout. Every year we ask that CPA firms sign up to be paired with students and coordinate a tour and meeting at their offices, as well as attend the event. This is a wonderful opportunity for these students and we hope you will consider adding your firm to the list.
Our committee chairs are also hard at work setting up meetings and events to provide our members with information to help increase the knowledge and success of our practices. These meetings will be announced by e-mail.
I look forward to seeing many of you at these events and thank you for all of your support.
Tara Eastwood, CPA
