The Federal Government passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590), which was signed into law on March 23, 2010. We will discuss the highlights, surprises and concerns that are presented by the Affordable Care Act focusing on certain issues that are of particular interest to the attendees. Remedial steps and compliance issues will be reviewed, as well. Please join us.

Because the law is still in its nascent form, attendees will
  • learn not only what is there but what is also missing
  • be provided with context for some of the issues and learn what their long range effect may be
  • understand compliance rules for 2010 and 2011 regarding discrimination testing, reporting and definitions

  • Discuss the key changes that will go into effect year-by-year
  • Review tax issues: W-2 reporting, Cadillac Tax, Investment Income tax
  • Review employer issues: grandfathering, mandates, dependent rules, discrimination testing
  • Some discussion of the Exchanges that will be operational in 2014
