The eligible list resulting from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies in the Financial Services Office located in Redlands. Incumbents may be assigned to any Court District within the County. Under general supervision, the Court Supervising Accountant performs a variety of difficult and complex work in the maintenance of an accounting system and technical support duties for the Accounting Manager, which may include research, analysis, interpretation of complex government legislation or codes, and the development of related financial program and/or operational changes; acts as the department lead in the absence of the Accounting Manager.
Typical duties of Court Supervising Accountant include, but are not limited to:
Supervises and coordinates the work of assigned accounting support staff; trains, coaches, and instructs employees in work procedures; evaluates employees’ work performance and work behavior; executes disciplinary action as needed; approves leave time and reviews time sheets; prioritizes and schedules work to meet deadlines; monitors work for compliance with governing standards, laws, and regulations.
Performs a wide scope of the most complex and specialized technical financial and statistical record keeping work; researches and resolves a variety of difficult problems through review of multiple records; identifies problems or errors and follows up to resolve them; performs support functions to manager in accomplishment of special projects and assists with a variety of support functions.
Maintains journals, general ledgers and subsidiary ledgers; maintains and updates accounts receivable controls and accounts; classifies and posts expenditures to budgetary accounts; analyzes revenue and expenditures, preparing periodic statements; prepares and maintains trial balances, reconciliations and balance sheets; maintains and updates complex financial and statistical reports; maintains records and accounts for revenues received; receives and classifies accounting data; identifies and resolves a variety of complex account and statistical record keeping problems; completes approved budget transfers to cover account shortages; monitors federal grants and reimbursable state programs; prepares reimbursement claims and billing statements; verifies costs.
Performs related duties as assigned. Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or closely related field and two years of financial and accounting experience equivalent to that of a Senior Accounting Technician with San Bernardino Superior Court or any combination of training and/or experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
