Legend Power, headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, is opening an office in Orange County. Key to this position is previous ground-zero start-up experience.

 

The Controller is responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, annual budgets and financial forecasts, variance analysis, monthly management reporting and analyzing current operations for cost savings and efficiencies. The Controller will manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking and credit. The Controller will provide strong leadership for  staff and management support to the General Manager. The Controller will be responsible for establishing and assessing internal controls and ensuring the effectiveness thereof. 

 

Initially, the Controller will play a key role, along with the General Manager in the selection, implementation and maintenance of an ERP system that includes all accounting and management software and suitable hardware. The Controller will also set up all required systems for payroll, sales taxes and payroll taxes and benefits. The Controller will also liaise on a regular basis with the head office CFO to ensure compliance with reporting and all other requirements.

 

Qualifications

 

·         Education: A designated accountant or senior student in a designated program.

·         Experience as a Controller in a manufacturing or distribution environment, particularly a technology start-up

·         ERP experience and setup implementation experience is an asset.

·         Familiarity with US GAAP and IFRS and preparation of audited financial statements.

·         Corporate financial planning experience. Knowledgeable in all areas of accounting, payroll and tax compliance

·         Experience in assessing and implementing effective internal controls.

·         Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and thrive in a changing, growing environment

·         Proven management skills in developing an accounting team and effective mentoring and coaching skills

·         Advanced working knowledge of accounting software, Excel and Word.
