We are seeking a sharp, enthusiastic team player who will join our team as Account Manager for the Southern California Region. A highly-organized, detail-oriented, self-starter with a passion for Charter School education and account management will seize this opportunity to contribute to a highly professional Charter School management team. The right account manager will apply his or her professional accounting expertise and people skills in traditional and unique ways within the burgeoning Charter School movement. The fulltime Account Manager will handle primarily the accounting functions of our planned development of the Southern California charter school market.
Our charter school services include charter development, human resources, governance, finance, accounting, and a full range of business services. It is CSMC’s mission to attack the number one cause of charter school failure, namely, poor business planning and execution. CSMC manages charter school business, so the charter school can focus on high-level student achievement through the medium of community-centered public charter schools.
What our School Business Manager will do
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports and accounting files for budgeting and accounting purposes. Typical tasks include performing bank reconciliations, preparing payroll journal entries, and preparing monthly financial statements.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Assist when necessary with accounts payable services including reviewing and auditing vendor invoices, preparing check requests, monitoring financial activities, aligning monthly spending with budgets, and maintaining vendor files.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Prepare all financial reporting (4 to 5 times a year) to the chartering agencies of clients.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Directly interface with client for inquiries and information gathering.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Review and audit general ledger entries for accuracy (and balancing as needed). Prepare year-end journal entries including accruals and depreciation.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Prepare information requested by year-end auditors. Be able to explain journal entries made.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Perform attendance accounting function. Track monthly attendance and report information to sponsoring district. Prepare and submit quarterly attendance reports to the state.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Ensure accuracy and timely completion and submission of state and federal funding applications (i.e. Child Nutrition, Class Size Reduction, Staff Development, Consolidated Funding Application, English Language Acquisition Program, SB740);
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Understand and be able to discuss the financial condition of all clients.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Assist in other business services related activities such as insurance renewals, compliance reporting, etc.
What our School Business Manager Needs
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Knowledge of GAAP, business principles and standard operating practices, and a strong accounting background.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Knowledge of California public education system including accounting and policies
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Knowledge of ACCPAC or use of comparable accounting system required.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Ability to work as a member of a team. Ability to self-start, prioritize, and multi-task.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Organizational skills with attention to detail.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Good communication skills.
