For Donella Wilson, serving nonprofits isn’t just what she does, it is who she is. Her dedication to bettering the community can be seen in all aspects of her life. From her work with charities to her focus on nonprofit clients at work, Donella has followed her calling for helping others.

Dedicated to ending homeless for women, Donella is president of the Board of Directors of the Downtown Women’s Center. 

In her professional life, Donella is a partner leading the Nonprofit Practice at Green Hasson Janks. She has over 19 years of public accounting experience providing audit and consulting services. In addition to her accounting work for nonprofits, Donella is also dedicated to helping groom future leaders at the firm.

She spends countless hours mentoring our employees and helping create programs that encourage diversity at Green Hasson Janks.

Donella co-chairs the firm’s quarterly nonprofit educational workshops, yearly conferences and oversees the Learning and Development function for Green Hasson Janks University. She also writes for the firm’s Nonprofit Blog and was a co-author of the Green Hasson Janks 2016 nonprofit whitepaper, Nonprofit Risk: Opportunities and Challenges in a High-risk World.

Donella is also a member of the California Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Prior to joining Green Hasson Janks, Donella obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and further obtained post-graduate diplomas in Accounting and Taxation. As a qualified South African Chartered Accountant, she worked for an international accounting firm in Cape Town before relocating to England. In England, Donella worked in private industry, primarily for telecommunications and television companies, providing management accounting and special project services. In 2000, Donella relocated to Los Angeles, joining Green Hasson Janks.

In her free time, Donella enjoys volunteer work, travel and outdoor adventure, with yoga and backpacking being her favorite past times.
