Federal & California Tax Updates for Individuals and for Businesses & Estates

Annette Nellen, CPA, CGMA, Esq. and Gary McBride, CPA, Esq., LL.M. will prioritize the new law first effective in 2018 and developments relating to the new law.

The intricacies of the deduction for qualified business income (§199A) will mostly affect the types of clients common to CPAs. Understanding these rules is crucial to compliance and helping clients plan to maximize this deduction.

The new definition and favorable accounting methods for small businesses will result in most small businesses pursuing multiple method changes. Understanding of method changes and IRS guidance on making them for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act changes will affect many clients.

Changes to fringe benefits affect employees, and both for-profit and non-profit employers.

What factors should be considered in helping clients decide whether to take advantage of any new state laws to help individuals lessen the impact of the new $10,000 deduction limit for state and local taxes?

Gary and Annette will cover all of the above during their courses offered from Nov. 26—Jan. 28
