The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is hiring a temporary Accountant in their Public Health Finance Division.  Primary responsibilities include the review, billing and reconciliation of several Federal and State grants. Duties may include assisting the Manager in preparing the monthly financial statement and projection, division budget, journal entries and year-end closing. The Accountant III will be involved in the Single Audit Report preparation and internal, federal or state audit inquires. 

The position requires interaction with Public Health Program Managers, Public Health Administrator, Controller and other County Departments and third parties. Experience in creating and developing intermediate to more complicated excel spreadsheets is a must. The successful candidate will have the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, perform thorough research and analysis for special projects and be a flexible team player.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in finance, accounting or a closely related field, which must have included at least 12 or 18 quarter units from the following accounting courses: Principles of Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Governmental Accounting, Fund Accounting, Cost Accounting or Auditing OR possession of a Certified Public Accountant Certificate.
