JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Finance provides leadership and has overall responsibility of the program financial management (PFM) department by ensuring fiscal contract compliance and proper contract financial reporting. Maintains a system of accounting records, provides financial information and analysis to management and works with Compliance & Ethics VP to ensure that reported results comply with OMB guidelines and contract requirements.   Works closely with external funding agencies and internal stakeholders including the executive team.

  • Oversee the activities of the PFM department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial analysis, projections, budgets and billing documents and annual audits and annual budgets
  • Collaborates with Corporate Controller to create, implement, and maintain program accounting policies and procedures
  • Collaborates with Compliance & Ethics VP on internal audit function. Member of and participation in organization’s internal audit committee
  • Develops reference tools & training for program staff (non-financial) as it relates to fiscal compliance with funder regulations, and in response to funder audit findings. Ability to present financial data to non-financial personnel
  • Oversight of PFM staff with direct supervision of PFM Management staff including hiring, mentoring, training, imposing discipline and termination
  • Oversight fo the preparation of monthly contract billings, budget variance analysis, and projections for programs
  • Oversight of funder fiscal audits including written audit responses and follow up reporting
  • Oversight and review of program budgets for current and new contracts
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with funding agencies
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects as assigned by CFO and respond with accurate and timely work product to support the goals of the organization Preparation of various ad hoc reports
  • Communicate effectively with peers and direct reports

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field OR CPA License required.
  2. Minimum 5-7 years of experience managing an accounting or finance team.
  3. Audit experience preferred.
  4. Proven experience in financial analysis.
  5. OMB knowledge highly desirable.
  6. Experience with government contract or project cost accounting preferred.
  7. Non-Profit accounting or finance experience highly desirable.
  8. High level of knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills strongly preferred.
  9. Enjoys working in a fast pace office environment, with the ability to work independently and to collaborate.
  10. Able to work a mostly sedentary position, with ability to lift files, open file cabinets and bend as necessary.
