Audit Manager, JLK Rosenberger
Ani’s family immigrated to this country in 1992 when she was 9 years old. She and her sister grew up valuing the land of opportunity and freedom, something they wouldn’t have had if her parents didn’t take the biggest risk in their lives and immigrate to America. Ani chose to follow in the footsteps of her father and become an accountant.
She graduated in December 2006 from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. While at CSUN, she was involved in student organizations including being elected president of the Accounting Association. Ani was recruited directly from CSUN by a local firm which today is known as CohnReznick (CR). During her time at CR, Ani was involved in recruiting talent, training her colleagues, was the firm liaison for the CR’s women program, among other activities. During her tenure she earned her CPA certificate and raised in the ranks from staff accountant to audit manager.
One of Ani’s former CR colleagues and friend, interviewed for the audit manager position at JLK Rosenberger (JLKR). During her interview, that friend came to believe Ani would be a better fit for JLKR and made the recommendation. JLKR interviewed and hired Ani to this boutique, yet growing, firm nestled in Glendale, California. As a mother of two little girls, it was important for Ani to be part of a firm that provided flexibility for full-time mom career driven women. After meeting the people at JLKR, she had no doubt that she would be a great fit in the JLKR culture.
Ani quickly identified needs at JLKR where she could apply her strengths and contribute to the growth of the firm. Using her unique direct yet nurturing leadership style, within a year she started to head-up the firms recruiting efforts to employ and retain exceptional talent. As part of her efforts, she directed staff, to develop and launch “Audit 500” in summer of 2016. This program speeds college students through a case study audit teaching planning to wrap-up and financial reporting. This program allows JLKR to learn firsthand about the technical and interpersonal skills of recruits. The students’ enthusiasm of this program has led to increased campus presence.
Ani also launched JLKR’s first women’s initiative program known as WomenLead. Again, she found the firm had a need to empower, encourage, and support the women. This program provides a platform for women at JLKR to collaborate and participate in various projects and events, within the firm and also with women leaders in our community, among our clients, and prospective clients.
When Ani is not working on JLKR projects, she enjoys spending every minute with her family, especially her two little girls. Ani’s favorite weeknight family activity is watching her little “pretend chiefs” make pizza on tortillas with pasta sauce and shredded cheese. Friday nights are all about playdates with friends. Weekends are all about visiting and catching up with her family.
