California is a big place. It’s bigger than 21 states + DC, combined. Our $3 Trillion economy is by far the nation’s largest, and the world’s 5th largest, surpassing the UK. We also have 4 of the country’s largest 15 cities. As big as we are, we are even more diverse. The census estimates that 60% of our population in CA is comprised of Hispanic, Asian and African/American people. As one of the approximately 80K CPAs in California, understanding how to better serve these groups is important to your relevance and survival. In this session, we will explore some of the elements that arise in working with diverse groups and cultures, against the backdrop of consumer trends in our profession. We will talk about the importance of understanding other cultures and having empathy. In effect, we will share practical advice on how to tailor your services and adapt to change.
