Due to the ever increasing globalization of business, there is a large and growing demographic of international and cross border professionals who have a connection in some way to the United States. These people, whether they are foreign citizens living in the U.S., American expatriates, or non-resident aliens with assets in the U.S., have complicated financial affairs, and they often have nowhere to turn for advice on important financial questions. The goal of this presentation is to provide an overview of the cross border demographic, then to examine in detail the most common financial challenges this group faces. Various issues will be described in detail, along with recommendations for best practices and optimal wealth planning. Because of the technical background of the audience, interaction and participation will be welcomed, in an effort to foster an exchange of ideas and a deeper Q&A.
