CalCPA Institute drives numerous programs and initiatives throughout California, including financial literacy efforts, academic scholarships, professional awareness and many more. Your tax-deductible contributions to CalCPA Institute go directly toward supporting these programs that help achieve our objectives and fund activities, including:

  • Academic scholarships
    • Through local CalCPA chapters, academic scholarships, totaling more than $300,000 annually, are granted to college and university students pursuing CPA careers. Statewide scholarships are awarded to students who are pursuing 150 hours of education, including both under graduate accounting and Master’s in accounting or tax. It’s never too late to invest.
  • Leadership Institute
    • CalCPA leadership institute trains future leaders of the California CPA profession; central to this effort is Leadership Institute, a five-day intensive training program.  Read about it here.
  • Financial literacy
    • CalCPA member volunteers lead a workshop (45-60 minutes) on financial topics such as budgeting, money management, managing credit cards, saving and investing, tax tips, disaster preparedness and more. The presentation is usually followed by Q&A with the audience. CalCPA Institute provides handouts for all attendees and presentation materials for CalCPA member volunteers. Financial literacy initiatives include collaborative work with a variety of other non-profit organizations that deliver financial literacy resources for the community.   • CPA career awareness
    • A variety of CPA career awareness programs are designed to help students and young professionals understand the array of career opportunities for CPA careers in California. Read about it here.
  • College and university outreach, advocacy and connections
    • CalCPA Institute continues to build long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with colleges and universities across the state. The CalCPA Institute regularly works with professors and educators on key issues, facilitates their ongoing communication and is a leading advocate on issues relating to advancing the CPA profession in California
