CalCPA San Diego Chapter Elects New President

Melody S. Thornton, CPA, of Carlsbad has been elected president of the San Diego Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA) for

2010 – 11. Thornton succeeds Joseph A. Forlenza, CPA, CFP, CRPC, of Ameriprise Financial Services, San Diego.

The CalCPA San Diego Chapter serves more than 2,900 members in San Diego and Imperial counties. They specialize in a broad range of services — from business consulting and personal financial planning to tax and estate planning.

Thornton is a tax partner with J.H. Cohn LLP, San Diego, which provides audit, tax and consulting services to public and privately held companies, individuals and not-for-profits.

A graduate of National University with a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting, Thornton serves on the membership committee of the Association for Corporate Growth and as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

Joining Thornton on the board of the CalCPA San Diego Chapter are Nai Hwang (first vice president) of the University of California, San Diego; Paul A. Zimmer (secretary) of Brinig & Co., San Diego; and Conor P. Donnelley (treasurer) of Max Perlatti & Associates, San Diego.
