High-visibility statewide and regional events (ABC Mixers, Golf Tournaments, Student Nights) that create networking value.
Leadership pathways are evolving. Modern, flexible, customizable, and scalable opportunities replace outdated and one-size-fits all traditional roles. Volunteers can contribute and connect, lead and facilitate, or shape and strategize across the CA-wide model.
It’s CalCPA your way. Whatever your passion, interest or available time, CalCPA has a volunteer leadership opportunity for you.

Get all your burning questions answered.
Throughout February (vote will be open for 30-days), members will be asked to vote on proposed bylaw amendments needed to implement a modernized community engagement and— governance framework, which the CalCPA Board of Directors, Board of Trustees and chapter leaders have been discussing and informing for the past 18 months. Council members have participating and informing these conversations since summer 2025.
The proposed framework is designed to:
Expand Community & Engagement—Regional and Hyper Local:
Moving from chapter-based borders to interest-driven model, with regions, that blends local connection with CA-wide opportunities.
Increase Volunteer & Leadership Pathways—CalCPA Your Way:
Expanding beyond chapter board roles to more flexible ways to contribute, lead, and shape strategy—at every career stage.
Modernize Governance & Structure—Modern and Future-Proof:
Simplifying governance, reducing duplication, and clarifying roles so leaders focus on insight and influence, not administration.
Enhance Experience & Access—Technology Enabled Engagement:
Using technology, consistent processes, and staff support to make it easier to participate, volunteer, and connect—without barriers.
Celebrate Local Flavor—Everything You Love and More:
Preserving what members love (signature events, scholarships, sponsorships) while making them easier to scale and sustain statewide.
We recognize that thoughtful review takes time. Here is what members can expect:
One week before the Feb. 3 meeting:
The full redline bylaws reflecting the proposed changes will be distributed to voting members. This timing is intentional and provides sufficient opportunity for review ahead of both the meeting and the voting window.
Tuesday, February 3:
A live Meeting of the Members will be held (in person and with a virtual participation option). This meeting is intended for engagement, discussion, and questions.
Immediately following the meeting:
Members will receive detailed voting instructions and access to the electronic ballot.
Voting will take place electronically following the February 3 meeting.
The voting window will remain open for 30 days, consistent with CalCPA bylaws.
A minimum of 50 voting members constitutes quorum, and approval requires a simple majority.
This process is designed to ensure every eligible member has a clear and reasonable opportunity to vote.
