The 2024 Member’s Summit in Huntington Beach was an outstanding success! Its incredible combination of a picturesque location, exceptional Southern California weather, thought-provoking topics, and the presence of brilliant minds from our profession made it no surprise that the event exceeded all expectations.
Throughout the summit, we explored a wide range of topics that are not only relevant but crucial to the future of our profession. From insights into emerging professional trends to the transformative impact of AI and its practical applications, the discussions were both enlightening and engaging. We also delved into talent demographics, legislative issues, and the importance of mental health and well-being. Providing attendees with multiple energy boosts and opportunities to connect with others kept the momentum going strong.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the summit was seeing so many students in attendance. Their enthusiasm was visible, and it was heartening to witness their excitement about the experience and the warm welcome they received from all the professionals present. This event was a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate to the next generation that we are truly the #CoolestProfessionAround. By connecting with these students, we showcased the dynamic and evolving nature of our field, leaving a lasting impression on those who will shape the future of our profession.
Our goal is to continue highlighting the exciting developments within the CPA community, both in the Inland Empire and across the profession, while providing valuable guidance to those entering the field. The Inland Empire has so many professionals involved at the local, state and national levels. This breadth of knowledge helps to bring additional insight into the profession and allows our area to do more and be better. We are the small but mighty Inland Empire.
Looking ahead, we have several exciting initiatives planned with students in mind. One of the highlights of the work is a firm crawl, where 20-30 students will have the opportunity to visit various firms throughout the day. This event will allow local firms to showcase what sets them apart and provide students with a firsthand look into the life of a CPA. Additional resources are also being developed to provide basic training to staff entering accounting. We want our students to feel prepared and empowered when they begin their careers.
The event was also a great opportunity for others who had not previously attended a state-level meeting to attend. The feedback I received from them was also extremely positive. Everyone was happy they attended and was overwhelmed by the outpouring of camaraderie and the new connections made.
We are thrilled about the future and remain committed to fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and inspiring the next generation of CPAs. Together, we can continue to build a vibrant and innovative community that leads our industry.
Continue to stay connected, get involved, and ask questions. Some of our upcoming events include the Attorneys, Bankers and CPA’s event on September 26 at the Mission Inn and the Golf Tournament on October 28. Our student event will be in November, and more information will follow regarding that event.
I look forward to seeing you at an event soon.
