Why should you choose to become a CalCPA member? I used to ask myself this question until I was selecting a firm for the next chapter of my career. I realized that it must be more than why you choose that firm—it has to be, why do you stay? The similarities between my choice of firm and the organization that I choose to volunteer with are remarkable. I value the leadership, the vision, the camaraderie and the mentoring to allow me to be successful in my journey. Most important, though, because it matters. 

I’m fortunate to be surrounded by supportive leaders, teammates, family and friends. Having a community of people that want to see you succeed becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. You become who surrounds you. This is why I stay. I stay because my leaders inspire me to be better and help pave my path so I can pay it forward to allow those to follow in our footsteps. We are about to embark on an incredible journey where the focus is on our community of CPAs. I’m excited to be on this path with you and look forward to the upcoming year!
