FRESNO, CA, Nov. 24, 2025—As part of CalCPA’s ongoing work to attract more students into accounting programs, the organization has successfully helped modernize the CPA licensure requirements, expanded its scholarship program, worked closely with colleges and universities and their accounting groups across the state, and continues to support and celebrate partners who share this mission. Fresno State’s Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) chapter exemplifies this alignment through its recent national recognition.
BAP Fresno State Gamma Omicron Chapter has been named a winner of the highly competitive 2025 KPMG Platinum Challenge, placing the chapter among the top 5 percent of BAP chapters worldwide. The award was presented at the 2025 Beta Alpha Psi Annual Conference, where chapters from across the globe were honored for standout innovation and community service.
Sponsored by KPMG, the Platinum Challenge recognizes chapters that effectively apply accounting, finance, and information systems skills to deliver meaningful, scalable contributions to their communities. Fresno State earned the honor with a five-minute video demonstrating its innovative service initiatives, strong community partnerships and measurable impact.
“We’re incredibly proud of BAP Fresno for earning this distinguished honor,” said CalCPA President & CEO Denise DeLuc Froemming. “Our collaboration with student organizations like BAP is essential to building the CPA pipeline. These students demonstrate leadership, commitment, and the drive our profession needs for the future.”
Strengthening the CPA Pipeline Through Campus Partnerships
Fresno State’s recognition reflects the broader work CalCPA is doing statewide to engage and support future accounting professionals. Through partnerships with BAP chapters and other campus organizations, CalCPA provides:
Mentorship and professional development
Scholarship opportunities
Hands-on volunteer experiences
Direct exposure to career pathways in accounting and finance
These efforts create meaningful connections between students, educators, and the profession, building awareness, strengthening skills, and encouraging more students to pursue the CPA pathway.
As a Platinum Challenge award recipient, the Fresno BAP chapter will receive $3,000 to support its programming and community engagement. A celebration was held in Fresno for the student chapter on Nov. 20.
